Make sure that body modification does not risk your wellbeing

For a lot of us, it is merely a matter of choice as to whether we acquire a body modification such as tattoo or piercing, however, for some people this is a decision that could affect their health. A lot of people who come up against this dilemma decide to go ahead with it anyway despite the chances of the procedure making them ill.
Ailments that may not be conducive to body modification include the likes of diabetes, hepatitis and cancer.
Diabetes is becoming more widespread amongst the population and people suffering with this sometimes have a bad reaction to a nick or a scratch. If this is the case then getting a body modification done that requires the use of a needle may not be the smart thing to do. If you suffer from diabetes and are considering getting a tattoo or piercing done then it may be a good idea to consult your doctor before going ahead with it.

Another thing to consider is the problem of prescription medication and there are all kinds of prescription medication that can interfere with a body modification. This is particularly true if you are taking medication that thins the blood or is an anti-coagulant, your body needs to use its ability to heal itself after a body modification and if this process has been suppressed it could spell trouble.
You may be thinking that just because you really want that tattoo badly enough that you can stop taking your medication for awhile until the procedure has been completed. Or maybe you are considering just not mentioning it to the tattoo artist? If you are then you may well want to think again as not taking your medication is not only completely insane it could cause you significant health problems that could lead to hospitalization or worse.
